I think the only difference is that the 2620 has a microdrive. I think in terms of "upgradability" 2610 is better as it has a PC interface. Also 2GB CF cards are pretty decently priced these days and you can load up the whole of US on to a 2 GB CF card.

I would suggest if you arein the market, you also look at http://reviews.cnet.com/TomTom...-30960607.html?tag=tab

I have ordered the garmin but I am having second thoughts. The 3-D maps of tomtom look pretty nice.

Dang. I just bought this unit like 2 weeks ago for $736 - $100 (rebate from Garmin). Looks like they added an additional $100 Amazon rebate (but you must purchase between 11/07 - 11/14). I wonder if there is a way I can get that additional $100 off, but probably not.

Anyway, I love this unit. I bought it primarily for my wife, and she loves it as well. A few things bug me though:

1. It's great at telling you when to turn right or left and stuff like that, but it does NOT speak out the street names. For instance, it will say, "Turn left in 300 feet", but I'd prefer it to say "Turn left on Main Street in 300 feet". I guess it doesn't do text-to-speech.

2. Creating waypoints seems harder than it should. Also, for some reason it limits the info and length of the waypoint names. For instance, the waypoint names cut off at around 9 characters or so. Also, when I try to look up the details of the waypoint, it just gives me longitude/latitude info. It doesn't have an option to put comments/actual address. So the waypoint shows up as "DadsHouse", but I'd like it to show the address as well.

3. Wish it did 3d topographical map display instead of just the normal 2D "road map" view

Anyway, at $536, I think this is an awesome deal.

Is this the unit you're referring to?

CNET TomTom GO Review

They seem to have many user comments and opinions there. Hope you end up getting the TT or Garmin ... either way, seems like you'll be happy with either one.

wow.. that tom tom device looks perfect! The 3D nav is great and reminds me of the nav I've seen on the Nissan/Infinities
