Garmin Nuvi 760 update?

Hi,

I purchased 2 Garmin Nuvi 760 last July (Costco) anyway I want to update the maps because they seem to be no good while I travel in FL (new highways in Tampa). I have found a few sites that offer free maps to load into the Garmin but am fearful to use them, I paid over $800 for the units and was surprised to see that they want another $120 each to upgrade the maps. Any advice on maps to load the system with. I was hoping if I got the lifetime upgrade I could do them both but no.

I have read it is good to update every 2 years. There is no guarantee that the new roads will be in the latest update

Check out the GPSPassion forums. They've got tons of stuff on Garmins.

Any "free maps" out there are either pirated versions or viruses/malware (or both! ).

Call Garmin tech support and see if they will give you an update for free. I bought mine last year too. I asked for the 2009 update (it was $69 at the time) and they gave it to me at no cost. Garmin tech support is excellent.
