Garmin Nuvi 1300LM - is this a good GPS unit?

If I don't need traffic or bluetooth, is this a good GPS to get?

Does it have best gps chip in it, does it actually autoupdate maps as advertised, and is touchscreen responsive?

Also, I read one comment about it dying a lot? Any truth to that?

Wife and I bought the Garmin 1300LMT at BB on BF. Seems nice so far. Responsive, good and fast GPS acquisition. Obviously we haven't had to update the maps yet, but I haven't checked to see if the included set is outdated. So I don't know if it does it automatically, or if it's through the PC or what.

So far we've been happy, but since it's not even been a whole week, that may not mean much.

That's a great price especially w/ the lifetime map updates included.

To update maps on Garmin GPS units, you need to download the map update from Garmin, connect the Garmin to your PC and run the map update. That's it. It can take awhile thought to complete the update.
