I've owned this GPS for several months now, I bought it back when it was $300, damn how prices have dropped!
For any of you all who are looking for a great GPS unit, this is a pretty good deal. This unit doesn't speak street names so instead of saying, "Turn left on Main Street in 100 feet" it will say "Turn left in 100 feet" and of course you can look on the display to see exactly where you need to turn. It hasn't bothered me at all.
It has millions of POI, I've used it in many towns I've never been in and it has guided me through them without me ever needing to pull out a map. For example, if your driving through a town and want to eat at Red Lobster. You just type that in and it will bring up all the nearest Red Lobsters, you just click on the nearest one and it will give you all the directions plus a phone number for the place as well. It has come in very handy.
The good thing is all these units should have the new 2008 maps on them plus all the updated POI's. If it doesn't have the new maps, you can call Garmin and request it and they will send it to you for free.
Also some people think you need to subscribe to a service like paying monthly to receive the GPS signal, you don't. Once you buy a GPS unit, that is it.
