Why is it that I can spend $200 on a Nuvi GPS unit and have lifetime map updates, yet when I go and buy an $1800 Kenwood head unit with Garmin GPS it costs me $79 for every map update?

If anything, it should be the other way around.
 
This why people still buy the portable Garmins, or use their phones.

Most map updates for in-car systems are just too expensive.
