I brought my old compaq AMD XP 1500+ Geforce MX 400 computer out of storage so my little brother could use it at a LAN party. Unfortunetly, when I turned it on nothing but garbage came up on the screeen. In the boot screens it displays random blocks and colors. When it boots to Windows, the screen looks like it's been sliced, diced and put all out of order. I know it is not the monitor because we tried 3 different ones.

So I did an experiment to see what the problem is.

I took the geforce mx 400 and put it in my new machine(AMD 64 3000+ 9800 pro) and it did the exact same thing.
(I uninstalled the radeon drivers before I put in the geforce)

My two theories are...

1.Graphics card bit the dust.
-My games had a tendency to crash in the year prior to its decomissioning. (The more gfx intensive the game, the sooner it crashed)
-It's well over 3 years old

2.Incompatiblity with radeon drivers
-Before I put it in storage I took out the hard drive, and slaved it to my new machine to copy my files. could my radeon drivers transfered from my new HD to my old?
-This could explain why the geforce doesnt work in my new machine.

What do you guys think is wrong?
