Gardners: have you used a mulch pad before for planting trees?

Why?

seems like a "waste" . . . . you can use just about anything for mulch . . . better to use something that will decompose and feed the tree.

BTW, i got the cutest Dwarf Rio Red Grapefruit tree and Mandarin Orange tree today . . . . i am planting them tomorrow. 🙂

you DO want a mulch . . . . this one is more of a "waste" than a mulch

i'm in the desert too (SoCal Hi desert near PS) . . . which one are you in?

and make sure you plant trees suitable for your area

good luck
