Garbled screen, unable to do anything

I have an Acer AL2051W hooked up to a 6800 GS in my main machine. I wanted to get Nvidia flat panel scaling to work, and I used the fix listed in this thread
to try and get it to work. The screen used to revert to normal after 15 seconds, I suppose in case the screen gets all garbled. But it didn't do that after trying that fix.

I tried rebooting, re-plugging the monitor, and plugging in a VGA monitor. The flat panel is still showing a garbled screen and the VGA monitor doesn't give me a picture at all. I don't know if re-plugging the graphics card would help, so I figured I would ask here before attempting anything else.

Do you see anything normal during post/boot?
A driver "fix" or error should only effect the card after windows loads.

If so, id try booting into safe mode and removing the drivers. (keep hitting f8 while your pc is booting to get the safe mode menu)
