Totally agree it was a little too long. Daniel Day Lewis was phenomenal in it, one of his best performances ever.
 
laughed my arse off when the butcher makes a notch in the other guys club and shows him.....this one is you.. and then clubs the shat outta him
 
I really liked that movie, Leo did a pretty decent job, imho. Of course the best part was the guy that played Bill the Butcher.
 
My former sister's fiance's exact words were "Someone die already!"

He thought the movie was 1 1/2 hours too long.

I totally agreed with him. Movie just kept dragging on and on...

However, I heard later on that the movie was based on what actually happened.

If that is the case...then it's not a matter of a dull storyline, it's just that things just happened really undramactic back then, in which case, it's not the fact of a poor drama movie but a historic movie.
 
I loved it. They built it up to be a bit more of a gang fight movie, and there was really only one major fight in it. But all in all, I thought it was fantastic. Bill the Butcher should have won an oscar.
