I watch the movies and did read the books in high school but I forgot what Gandalf powers are? But what I seem from the ROTK, the way he waved that sword & staff, Magneto would owe him.

Um, he was a wizard you know. He used his staff for his magic...

Of course I knew him to be a wizard, but what kind of powers did he had, i.e., shoot fireballs, call up storms, earth quake etc. and the limitation and magnitude to such power. Take for example, if he was so powerful, why don't he just wave his hand and banished all those armies. You know that kind of questions/answers.

He can shoot fireworks and make his staff light up.

But seriously, his powers were great. He was sent to protect Middle-Earth from Sauron by the Gods for over 2000 years... I believe he was limited to not directly affecting the world, but only helping it along. He was immune to all weapons, so he can't be killed by any mortal. Once Sauron was dead, he left Middle-earth forever (along with all the other wizards). He was one of 5 wizards sent to ME. Saruman was one, but i'm not sure of the others... i think a couple of them took care of the elves (which was the land they were fleeing too). His powers were never explicitly stated, and Tolkien himself never said what his limits are. We all know he's not completely omnipotent, since he was killed by a Balrog, but that when he was Gandalf the Grey. When the gods sent him back and made him Gandalf the White, he gained even more power.
