Gamma/brightness for Counterstrike:Source ???

I just started playing CS:S and it is dark as hell

I turned up the brightness and gamma in-game all the way up
I also turned up the brightness and gamma in the catalyst control center
and I have the brightness and contrst turned up on my monitor too
This works for CS 1.6 but not for CS:S
also can't seen anything in Doom3

It looks like CS:S ignores the gamma/brightness settings of my radeon 9800

Help...
