I have approximately 2 hours a week to work on the site. I could care less what it looks like.

I gotta tell you man, if you dont take pride in what your site looks like, you wont get anywhere. It looks like a child made it with frontpage... also, if you want people to submit things to it, you've gotta come up with a better system... Create a user system and have them upload it automatically to the server... I know I personally will not take the time to contact you via IM just to send a file to you. If I did and you're not around, I definately wouldn't try a second time.

Technically a 22 year old made it with front page, but i have the experience level of a child.

I'm going to have to agree with Modeps. The frontpage looks like a$$. If I some time I would help you out... sounds like an interesting idea.

Also you might want to have a standard encoding, maybe highly compressed wmv? that way the format is smaller... 250mb is a LARGE file to download. More people would be interested if the file sizes were say 1 - 5 mb.

Also do you think for one second its a good idea to give ANYONE FTP access? cuz i sure as hell dont, even with premissions. One porn video uploaded and my site = gone.

I have disk quotas, and i dont want every joker on the internet uploading me garbage, i screen everything that goes up personally.

Edit: I come here asking for help, and all i can get is OMG LOLOLOL your site looks funny.

Its not about the site, people dont even see the homepage under normal conditions, they direct link the torrents on forums and go.

Just out of curiosity, why this restriction if they're just torrents anyway?

There is a file size limit of 250MB, and videos must be of at least "decent" quality. Only site moderators can get more than 2 files hosted at once without special premission.

We have keep disk space under control, its limited.

The decent quality restriction is to keep the content attractive.

Who said anything about FTP access? You can easily write an upload script in PHP and use that... of course, with your 256mb files, it may be tough to make sure transfers dont time out. Also, if people are uploading, you could build a sort of moderation system in which things arent posted until you approve.

I love giving critical advice to people who just get angry. I do this for a living and in my free time. I'm so sorry I tried to help you out. By the way, Flash website are crap.
