I have the ASUS Nforce 2 motherboard that has the extra lan connection. Can I connect a computer directly to it? I've been trying to but it doesnt recognize it. Do I need a different twisted ethernet cord? Also, how do I get a game like Call of Duty to recognize the 4-port router for a Lan game??? All the computers can share files but won't work during gaming. Anyone have any insight?

For the networking, you need a crossover cable. Most ethernet cables you see at stores are straight-through, for plugging into a hub/switch/router.
Also, make sure both computers are given a static IP address and turn on file and printer sharing.
