I'm stuck in Tennessee away from my computer and am really curious to see how SP1 is going for 3D gaming. Does anyone have/know of any benchmarks compared to vanilla vista?

It would be best to wait several weeks and then run the benchmarks. Installing SP1 clears your Superfetch cache so it needs to "learn" your gaming habits again.

I just ran it once, but 3dmark06 gave me 100 more points.... but it's within margin of error and COD 4 seemed to run slower... which prompted my 3dmark run.

Haven't really tested since I installed it last night, basically all I play is WoW right now and it felt the same which is over 60fps.

I posted this thread awhile back over in OS forums ,link.

Conclusion: Hotfix or SP1?

With SP1 right around the corner, the Vista community is champing at the bit. Most of our gaming experience, and definitely our other tests, show that it's definitely worth the download and the slow, plodding installation. Gamers will almost certainly benefit from the myriad of fixes in the service pack.

COD4 runs great on my system:
E8400 stock
4GB RAM
8800GT 512MB
Vista x64 w/ SP1
