I want to know how much faster is it REALLY if you play games on:

1) Raptor
2) 7200RPM RAID
3) RAIDed Raptors

Please make mention of the different capacities if they have relevance.

by faster i hope you mean loading times.

in that case, raided raptors beat everything

Well I know that but what about the others.

Maybe I wasn't clear...I want to know the differences in speed from a price/performance/storage point-of-view.

ok, for gaming nothing is better than a 100 dollar 500 GB hard drive. raiding 7200 rpm drives wont give you any tangible performance. while 10000 rpm drives decrease loading times, its still not enough to justify the cost.

'speding money on hard drives for gaming: priceless'
'for everything else there's Raptors.'

RAID 0 from a price/performance perspective is not that great. I'm running dual 200GB 7200RPM WD HDs in RAID 0, and I could have certainly gotten a single 400GB drive for less. The array feels a bit faster than a single disk, but it's not huge and is really only noticeable at startup. I used to run dual Raptor 37GB HDs (the original noisy ones), and didn't bother to upgrade to dual 150GBs because they are way too expensive. I basically run A RAID 0 array because I want to, not because it offers some huge benefit.

btw, what does this have to do with video..? A RAID 0 array will not improve your fps...

As has been stated a faster disk subsystem will only help with load/reload times and similar; it won't help with FPS.

And why is this topic even here? It has absolutely nothing to do with video.

I guess the 500GB would be the way to go then. Thanks guys.

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum. Probably should have gone in PC Gaming....My bad, my apologies.
