Gaming with dual monitors?

I was thinking adding a Dell 2007WFP S-IPS panel with my 20" Apple Cinema to my current configuration (in sig). When playing games that do not support dual monitors (mostly all I believe), will having another monitor active slow down the game or decrease performance of my video card? Will the other monitor sit on the desktop or just shut down? Any advice would be appreciated...thanks!

I don't know about decreased performance of your video card, but when I leave my second monitor on while playing a game, my second monitor just stays on the desktop.

depends on the video card and what mode you use. also what will the 2nd screen be doing?

If I have a video playing on the second monitor while playing a game on the main monitor, the secondary monitor goes black but you still hear the sounds of the video.

Really? Weird. I watch stuff on my second monitor and game on the first all the time and the image doesn't go black. I run WMP and watch the videos fullscreen. What player are you using?

Yeah. I wish I could watch stuff on the second monitor while playing a game on the first. I normally use GOM player. I just tried playing a video using WMP and loaded WC3 and the screen went black. Unless there's an option in the ATI control panel or something (VisionTek HD 4850)
