to me, it's funny when i see some young kid corner camping, trying to pop out and headshot me on that 50ms advantage he gets from being oh so young and full of stupid energy, and i just throw a nade in his lap and blow him up to bits.

i learned to not try to compete on the twitch level, and beat them with my own game.
most even expect you to become aggressive and attack, if you wait just a couple seconds more, they'll pop out and try to figure out what's happening and why aren't you rushing in.
(headshot)

young fools.

I'm 31 and while I used to be decent back about ten years ago, I get fucking destroyed now (in pretty much any game). I think the biggest reason is I hardly ever game anymore, probably a couple hours a week and that's the maximum; it's usually less. I used to spend hours a day playing games when I was younger.

you are out of shape. i get worse if i don't game for a day. not sayin' you should get back into gaming, but if you do, you might be positively surprised.

I'm 52 and do just fine if I decide to game, but just haven't been lately much.

How can you be out of shape online gaming, it's not like you're in USMC bootcamp.

Kind of a silly thread.

Feels bad man..

Heard that once you get over the age of 21, you will never be able to be really able to compete with adolescences in gaming just by physiology alone.

Seems that adolescences have better reaction time and coordination than us old folks.

This really bring me down. :(

Anyone here sad?
Getting older usually brings with it increased responsibility and time constraints. I have about 3 hours free time a day (Kids in bed, wife watching TV, I can do what I want), I could game for all those 3 hours, but I would never be as good as when I was younger.

However a lot of my friends are still single and live by themselves, they game quite a lot in their free time. They are all really good at everything they play, just like they were when we were teenagers.

Cause boomers only know how to play board games?

They haven't yet been introduced to the Wii but when they get to Shady Acres rest home the physical therapy aides will show them how to work it.

There is also Generation X, my generation. We are not bitching and moaning about video games as you guys do. Despite already having osteoarthritis starting in my mid 30's I go out and clobber people in online games just fine and have fun with it.

I don't know how you guys refer to yourselves as "old" by age 21.. please! my wife has been at her place of employment for 5 years longer then you children have even been alive and when she and I go on vacations we walk for miles and miles each day with backpacks on our backs. What are you kids doing that you think is so hard that 21 is old to play a VIDEO GAME? If video games are busting your ass how do you guys hold up to do common household repairs? ever work on plumbing? ever install a kitchen sink? wait until you have to swing a hammer instead of glide a big mouse! :Q

Any time I start feeling bad about my skills, I like to remind myself that I was good at video games back when they were actually hard (arcade, atari, NES).

Kiddies always have the reaction speed, but they will never know the misery of trying to win Battletoads or Karnov. They are soft and spoiled and it will only get worse as time goes on.

If I need something fixed I text the landlord. Gliding my big mouse sounds so much more appealing.

Ehh, my "twitch" skills are a bit rougher vs when I was early 20s. But, I don't think I noticed any sort of decline until after I hit 30.

As far as fixing things, I have some tools and can fix basic things and do basic remodeling.

Why sad? B/c you're stupid?

Back in the BF2 days, my TWL clan was number 1 and I played on a top CAL team, we were all 30+.

Nowadays, we have guys in their 50s that I'm sure can beat your ass in any game.

I am more disturbed by the fact that the OP considers 21 to be old....

He's pretty clueless and though he's in college, you'd think he's still in high school. Check out any of his other threads. You'll get a good laugh.

Cool it with the personal attacks.

More quality from this guy, huh? You're an embarrassment to the Captain Caveman name dude.

Back on topic...I find my fucks given level is through the floor at this point with competitive gaming. I was ranked top 15 in CoD4 on the ps3 for wins, kills, and score in my early 30's. Since then I have gotten married and I just find my desire for anyone to even consider I might be a good player has completely evaporated.

I've moved on to mostly single player pc gaming now, but I spend more time reading the news and talking to my wife and kids than I spend gaming. I can still play very well, but I have always had super quick hands so I doubt getting old is as bothersome to me as caring enough to really lock in.
