Gaming Troubles with Radeon 9500 Pro

The story so far...
Bought a Radeon 9500 Pro after my Geforce4 Ti4200 bit the dust. Got the Radeon up and running (or so it seemed), but it would freeze up during the opening screens of UT 2003, Warcraft 3, and a few others. System is otherwise stable. Tested issue on a Windows 2K partition as well as a Windows XP partition; which yielded the same results for both OSes. However, when running the card with NO AGP driver, I was able to play these games. Never had a problem with the Geforce4 on this same hardware until its demise. Here's the system config:

MSI KT400 Ultra
Athlon 2200+
512 MB PC2700 DDR
Antec TrueBlue 480W

And here's what I've tried up to this point:

Reinstalling Most current VIA Hyperion drivers(4.49), as well as older versions (4.42 and 4.48) when that wasn't succesful
Reinstalling most current ATI Catalyst drivers(3.7) as well as older versions(3.6 and whatever version was on the cd) when that wasn't succesful
Formatting and clean install of Windows XP immediatley followed by AGP driver, Catalyst driver, and then game.
Reinstall of DirectX9
Adjusting AGP voltage, and some other BIOS settings
Adjusting AGP settings to 4x and turning Fast Writes off
Attaching Radeon to seperate molex connector
Swapping out one DIMM at a time to test memory

I really don't want to run the card without AGP drivers...I'm sure the performance is significantly degraded. I really don't believe it to be a heat issue. I have a large aluminum case with a side panel fan blowing directly on the card. I'm running out of ideas. Anyone have experiences with similar hardware? Any suggestions for things to try? Should I just return the board and get a 9600, or just RMA it for another 9500 Pro? Any input is appreciated.

Sorry, not much of gamer. But what does your voltage readings say on your MSI motherboard tool? Is it out spec? Does the 9500 pro require an external power connection?

Also, you my try posting this question at the rage3d.com forums also.

Yes, the Radeon 9500 Pro requires an additional power supply connection.
Here are the voltages according to my BIOS health section:

+5 = 5.113
+12 = 11.923
-12 = -11.907
-5 = -5.026

Seems to be within spec...

If you are using XP it will be using an old version of the VIA AGP driver, however having looked on MSI forums the solution is to not install no AGP driver ,one guy got it working with 4.43 drivers.
