If you have the room for 5.1 and the cash for them.
5.1 all the way.
and I suggest Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1

lol, I think ultras are a little different budget than the ones he listed.

z-5300s are probably even too expensive.

For gaming and movies you would prefer 5.1 surround sound

Yet for music you would prefer 2.1 speakers because usually they have higher sound reporduction quality

If you have a room to fit 5.1 speakers without problems and you have cash, high quality 5.1 speakers likt the logitech ones are very good.

i don't have too much budget.

i am in india and can spend about Rs.5000,recommend speakers in the us for 50-60$.

logitech z5300 is for about Rs.13000-14000.

which is better low quality 5.1 or decent qulaity 2.1? if you forget about the space for a moment.

I'm in the same position as you, and I think I'm going to get the Logitech X-230. They're 2.1, with dual 2" drivers in the satelites, and 5.5" subwoofer. They're Reccomended Price in the US is US$49.95.

Anywayz, thats what Im going to get.
RoD

If you gonna get 2.1, get the logitech.
If you gonna get 5.1, I suggest the 251 cos I have them, not too much omph but the sound is nice

For gaming, IMO 5.1 is much better. I use to have 2.1 speakers, but then I recently bought the X-530's. Huge difference. I really like being able to differienate sounds that are in front of you, or behind you.
I'd go with the X-530's. Usually only about $15-20 more than the X-230's.

OMG, this is your 8th thread on this.

JUST BUMP YOUR OLD ONES!!!!!

Here's the 7th one

I'd take a quality 2.1 like the Klipsch 2.1 over some POS 5.1 system.

2.1>> Klipsch Promedia 2.1

5.1>> Klispch Promedia 5.1 ULTRA

I saw a small pair of bose 2.1 speakers once and they sounded quite good for being stereo. Of course someone probably makes an external 5.1 system for like a stereo tv or something like that. I wonder if they have stereo amps that take a 5.1 optical sound cable as input like you see on the back of new DVD players.

Got $1,000 to burn?

Check out the Yamaha YSP-1 Digital Sound Projector. . . .

42 speakers with 42 individual amplifiers with digital inputs
