gaming speakers final choice (z5500 vs. s750)

Hey guys, I bought the logitech's z5500 and the creative s750. Bottom line, I am going to keep the s-750.

Let me give this review PURELY as a gaming speakers. Personaly, I think anyone who buys computer speakers for a movie or music is INSANE!!! There are home theaters for that and they will all blow away any computer speakers. To hear people complain about the music capabilities of the s-750, z5500, or pro media ultras is just stupid. To compare these 3 speakers (which are probaly the best computer speakers around) for music or movie purposes is like debating which POS is better? I do not mean to sound like a snob or something but what I am saying is true.

With that being said, if you are looking for a gaming speaker, you are looking for 3 things. 1) Quality of the sound 2) abilty to locate enemy by sound 3)bass.

Personally, for gaming, I do not care for 3 too much so I was more concerned with 1 and 2.

The bottom line, is the the s750's extra 2 channels really enabled you to pinpoint enemy gunfire or locations, which to me, is essential.

The z5500 sounded fairly close to the s750 sound wise but we are talking computer speakers so who really cares?

For those that care, the z5500 sub sounded much tighter to me than the s750 but the s750 was no pushover.

So if you are looking for a gaming speaker, the choice is CLEARLY the s750. Hope this helps those who are shopping for a gaming speakers.

Also, please remember that sound is subjective. What sounds great to someone may sound like SH*T to someone else. Just because you love your pro media's doesn't mean everyone else will. To me, the martin logins (or any electrostatic speaker) sounds superior to any other speaker around. I know others would disagree but thats fine. Buy what you like and be happy.

Sorry about bashing these three great computer speakers but I'm just so tired of hearing everyone compare how these all play music and movies. Its like braggin how fast your ford focus or geo metro is. It is just plain stupid.

Home theater for music/movies. Computer speakers for gaming. Sure computer speakers can play music and movies but it is not great. Regardless, from what I have found, the s750 is expensive but probally the best gaming speakers around.

If you are curious, my home theater contains martin logans, krell kav1500, meridian 596, pioneer elite dv 45a, and earthquake sub.

I have heard them and they really are on par with both the z5500 and s750. I personally thought their sub was the best of the 3 but that is just my thoughts.

They all have slightly different sounds that some people may like or not like.

The reason I went for the s750 is because of the 2 extra channels. WIth 7.1, it is easier to locate enemy based on sounds in gaming. To me, it gives me a slight advantage.

I also have the S750s with an Audigy 4 Pro. Doom 3 is almost a new game. I would have given Klipsch a hard look if they had 7.1.

LMAO! What do you base this on other than your clearly uninformed opinion?

sound is ALWAYS subjective!!!

WHo cares what specs show if you do not like the sound? The same can go for picture quality.

Plus you are missing the main point of my review. These speakers are gaming speakers. THATS IT! WIth that being said, 7.1 has a DISTINCT advantage over any 5.1 system.

Is the s750 the greatest system ever? NO WAY! It is the most musical speakers around? NO WAY! Does it have the best sub? NO WAY!

Does it help you the most in a gaming situation over the z5500 and ultras? ABSOLUTELY!

That is the basis of my review.

While I am not disputing your own personal tastes; I did dispute your claim that "PC Speakers" can not match up with home theater speakers.

PC speakers cannot match up with home theater speakers. That it is the truth.

The top of the line pc speakers match up with the cheaper (and quite frankly, BAD) home theater systems.

The medium to higher end speakers for home theater blow away any pc speaker.

If you do not believe me, go to any home theater store and listen to krell, meridian, martin logan, BAT, or any of the other great home theater equipment.

Bottom line is the best of the pc speakers (z5500, s750, ultras) only compare to the lowest of the low home theaters.

Haven't heard something so funny in a while.

The speakers most people seem to have (read the average non dork 😉 ) on their home theatre system are usually the free ones they get w/a receiver. I had one of those, and my Z680s are -much- better. Not as good as my $$$ infiniti ones I have now, but better than the garbage you get in a receiver set.

Don't think you can go too wrong with the Klipsch, Z5500 or s750s if you're hooked up to a computer though, all are pretty good. 🙂

Simple question: If any of you have used zalman 5.1 headphones, i wanna know how good they are for gaming. Are they worth the price(costs me approx $75 at my place) and secondly, is it comfortable wearing it for hours together for gaming or movies. the answer will decide whether i buy it or not.. thx
