It certainly is powerful though I would be suspect of the PSU that came with the case. It is far more the exception than the rule that you can get a good PSU that comes with a case.

I suggest a name brand PSU. Consider another brand name for your video card.

Since there have been a ton of these threads recently about new buiolds I encourage you to look them up. I know the'll give you many good and varied suggestions.

Looks good, but definately get a good PSU.

The ULTRAs have been known to "blow up" after a few weeks.

Get an OCZ, Enermax, Seasonic, Fortron, etc.

I would spend at least $110 on a PSU with that kindof hardware.

If you want a quiet and cool system, get a Zalman CNPS9500 for the CPU and a Zalman VF900CU for the video card.

You'd get better gaming performance with a cheaper cpu and faster video card.

Agreed. You'd be A LOT better off with with a X2 3800, 4200 or a 4400 and getting a x1900xtx or 7900 gtx...it is a gaming rig yes??? GPU is more important than CPU for gaming performance and besides, the price for a 4800 doesnt warrant the performance of the chip, which can easily be achieved with any of the 3 chips I mentioned overclocked.

agree with 4400+ x1900xt or xtx. def not that psu with that case, just get another case in general for better quality and cooling and no psu. def dont get an ultra branded psu. unless u like smoke and flames

Are you planning on overclocking? If not the XMS is overkill. Also use a different PSU(its what everyones going to say anyways)
Cut back on the CPU perhaps use the extra cash for a 150 gig raptor or someother misc upgrade.

Hmm so you would go with a 4400+? I dont want to shell out 500$ on a gfx card when DX10 comes out in less than a year. My cpu however will last a long time. And about the ram... Its the fastest DDR ram I could find. Good for gaming right?

Get an Opteron 165, overclock it, get rid of the SLI board, get value RAM, and get a good PSU.

You dont' need a CPU that fast, get a Opteron 165 or 170.
Great mobo! Don't go DFI they are nothing but trouble. Stay with what you have.
Get some PC-4000, Pc 3500 is a waste of money.
Using the saved money from the CPU, get a 7900GTX, or 2 7900GT's in SLI.
Great HDD! I have one!
I wouldn't trust some no-name 500W psu with a rig like this. Get an Antec case and a Fortron, enermax, or PCP&C PSU.

I agree with Ctrackstar126, if you are not going to overclock the memory you can get 2 gigs of excellent value ram and save yourself money that you can put into a serious video card. The newer games make tremendous demands upon the video card.

If you are not using Sli, as KoolDrew points out, why spend the money on a Sli board?

X2 3800 Manchester (probably the #1 in demand AMD chip at the moment), 4200+ or 4400+ will do you quite well.

I would choose HIS over XFX. I've read too many posts with people having quality issues with XFX.

Let us know what you choose.

Edit: Optys are very good and that G.Skill is very, very good.

Not bad at all, if you want to save a bit of cash then ditch the A8N32, you're not going to use the SLI slots are you? Spending and extra $100 there for no real performance difference is rather hard to justify imo.

Spending it on a larger (and faster HD) might be an idea.

Get a good name PSU, think about an enermax liberty 500W, or any fortron 500W, seasonic, Antec Neo HE (the only antec i'd get) and OCZ are all good options. Plenty more out there, but i'm far from convinced that ultras are good buys.

DFI Ultra-D, unless you need more than 2 PCI slots. Also check out the 7900gt video card, which can be overclocked very, very easily. Here's a mod guide by fuzzybabybunny:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=31&threadid=1847758&enterthread=y

Here's a link to a good eVGA 7900gt (500mhz gpu/1500mhz mem) for $319:

I'd also recommend taking a look at the OCZ PowerStream 520w PSU. $110 AR on the Egg:

You do need a good motherboard, but that doens't mean it has to be a SLI or crossfire board. The Epox 9npa ultra is a top notch overclocking board, and is less picky than DFI boards when it comes to components. It's definitly worth a look. It's less than $100 on newegg.

And that EPoX 9NPA+Ultra will do you quite well as BobtheLost mentions. It is rock stable at stock settings and overclocks well.
