Hey,

I wasnt sure where to post this, but since these problems only come up when gaming, here goes...

My friend is having problems with lag spurts and BSOD's in certain games such as morrowind and urban terror. But Quake 3 arena works fine. I've tried flashing the bios, and installing new gfx/sound card drivers, doesnt solve the problem. This system is almost 2 years old and these problems have just started happening in the past few weeks. Anyone have any other suggestions??

Hardware:

Athlon 1.4 Ghz
ECS K7S5A
512Mb SDRAM
75Gb Seagate 7200rpm
GeForce 3
SB Live Xgamer

TIA

Ok, so i found an irq conflict between the ide controller and something called the BM ide controller (?). They're sharing 14 and i cant seem to change them. Anyone know how to fix this??

you might be able to change them in control panel -> system -> hardware. if not, try physically moving the cards around. typically the agp and first pci (right next to the agp) share the same irq. for this reason, never ever ever put a card in the pci slot right next to the agp slot. the only time you should put something there is if you don't have an agp card
