Hey everyone, I've been a console gamer for quite some time now, but I've decided to switch over to PC gaming. I'm pretty new to all of this, but because I've done a bunch of research I know a little bit :). I just wanted everyone's input and suggestions on my build that I've put together.
My budget is around $700-$800, which is where the build is currently at.
I'll be buying my parts from the USA.
I have no brand preference whatsoever.
I don't really plan on OC'ing.
I have a 22" monitor, so I plan on using a resolution of 1680x1050.
I plan on finishing the build before the end of summer. (early August)
I want to play games at at least High settings.

It's a little early to be considering what to buy. There could be a GTX/GTS 650 out in July or August that would compete favorably against the 6870.

For now, I can tell you a few things. Definitely, you need to go Intel with this build. You won't need that big of a PSU. I suggest reviewing some of the B75-chipset boards to see if they meet your needs. (They have no overclocking and you can't use two GPUs at once, but you really shouldn't need that.)

Ken's suggestions are good.

Raidmax is generally regarded as an inferior power supply brand. The brand most commonly recommended around here is Seasonic. In addition to selling PSUs under their own brand they manufacture some of the power supplies for other big names such as Antec, Corsair and PC Power & Cooling.

A few big issues that I see are:
- Planning too far out (2 months is an eternity for pricing)
- AMD CPU, Intel is just better for gaming
- Raidmax PSUs are not known for quality

Since we're so far out, I can only give you a general sketch of what to get:

i5 3450 $200
Midrange H77 board $100
8GB of DDR3 $40
Whatever midrange GPU is a good value (7850, GTX 660, etc.) $200
1TB 7200RPM HDD $100
DVD Burner $20
550W PSU $50
Decent ATX case $50
Total: $760
