I am considering upgrading my OS to WinXP, but am concerned about some of the games I play being compatable. Does anyone know for a fact whether or not the following games will work on windows XP:

Empire Earth
C&C Red Alert 2
Age of Empires 1&2
Rollercoaster Tycoon

Please let me know if you have positive results with any of these games

I can give you a definate yes on:

EE (including expansion)
AOE (1&2 & roman expansion)

I prolly have about 30 or so games running on XP and I would say it's the best gaming OS out there. The compatibility is as high as Windows 9x systems and the stability is better than NT/w2k systems.

i have yet to run across any game which wont work in XP unless it is a dos based game, then I've had some probs, so if the games arent running in dos windows ur probably fine.

I have played all those games fine on Windows XP, I dont have C&C so I cant help there. Sorry.

Go for Windows XP though, it's fast latest drivers are XP only and it's very stable.

C&C Red Alert 2 comes up as not compatibe with Windows XP....I play it loads however without issue :)

Plus compatibility mode may solve it for some games ;)

As a frequent player of RCT I thought I would add....

RCT runs fine on 2k/XP, with one problem however... If you try to open/save a file the game will usually crash. You will also get a compatibility warning when you run the game for the first time, just ignore it. The crashing issue can be fixed by installing the newest patch for the game from RCT's website. Once that patch is installed the game functions pefectly :D

Don't forget to download RefreshForce from the UK to allow for a better in game refresh rate - unless you like gaming at 60hz which drives me nuts!

This way you can game at 85hz according to my own use of this program :)

thanks for all the links and patch advice. I'll be updating shortly, and when I do, I'll be sure to use all of it
