So, I am looking for a gaming mouse with a button, in a nice comfortable spot, to replace the "w" key for forward movement in game.

I would like it to be a separate key from the two main mouse buttons.

Any ideas?

Naga? Any gaming 7 button mouse? Just don't use the back button. Wore out the one my g9 using it to toggle scope in CSS.

Right. But of those with buttons that can be mapped, are there any mice with nice button layouts that feel natural for such a use?

Given that such a use sounds very UN-natural you'll have a hard time finding people who use it the same way.

That said I have a logitech G700 which has 4 thumb buttons. You could map one of those to be W and you'd still have back/fwd + an extra button at your disposal.

I used to play with a bit of an odd set-up. Left mouse was forward, right mouse was backwards and I would shoot with my left hand on ctrl. This meant I didn't have to hold still to left click and shoot making me more accurate. You might want to have a go with that as then movement is all on the right hand and everything else is on the left (strafing on the back and forward buttons).

I don't know of a single gaming mouse that puts a button somewhere that I would want to hold it most of the game. The only one I know that puts the buttons right under your thumb is the Razor Naga, its got a lot of buttons directly under the thumb and you might find that good for your purpose and if you have a disability its a great solution moving lots of buttons to the right hand.
