What would be the best strictly for PC gaming (FPS games...BF3) monitor out there right now at @ 23-24" size?

We already have a Dell U2410 (IPS panel) with a 6ms response time that's set up with another computer in the house not being used.

There are some Asus models that have a 2ms response time...would that make a significant difference?

It's kind of subjective and my opinion is not a significant enough one to warrant a purchase. I have a 23" NEC with an e-ips panel that is similar to the Dell. Response given is 14ms black to black. Your 6ms and 2ms is probably gray to gray. I don't have any issues with ghosting or input lag, which are what matter to fps gamers. I would not trade the response time of a TN panel to also get cruddy picture quality and low viewing angles. E-IPS trade off a little bit of response time to get much better picture quality and viewing angles.
