Gaming Mice....

Do gaming mice last longer than regular mice....like one of those razorback joints compared to a typical logitech optical

jes wondering cause im killing my mouse1 button playing DoD w/ a carbine

I don't really think so.

My MX510's right click died after about a year, & that was a replacement for my previous MX510 which had intermittant disconnect issues after about 6 months.

Now my MX518 is having intermittant disconnect issues.

So either Logitech is just crap, or gaming mice are no better for durability...

I don't think so either. If a gaming mouse is supposedly more durable, it would've been one of the advertising points, but it is not. Plus, they're laughing at us gamers willing to pay upward $50+ on a mouse that they know we'll break within 6 months or a year. Then they grab our balls again by coming out with even better gaming mouse just in time for us to shell out another $70. 🙂

not that the mouse1 isnt working @ all...its just that im pressed it so much that it isnt as responsive on all the surface areas

I've had excellent luck with Logitech. My only mouse (used for everything, especially games) is one of their Trackballs that I bought in 1999 and it's still running like I bought it yesterday.

Over the years I've found considerable dirt and build-up around the buttons... that can impede their functionality until you clean it out. Maybe yours is just dirty? Look in all the gaps between and underneath the buttons and scrape the junk out with a toothpick or something. Even take the mouse apart if you want, you can clean it better that way.

I have a G5 and it's holding up rather well. Even my old MX700, which got some really heavy usage, still works fine to this day. The charger has given me a fit a couple of times (common problem) but it still charges the mouse, and the only real sign of wear I've noticed on the mouse is that the scroll wheel has a bit less tension than it used to. It's not loose or anything though, and I actually prefer a bit less tension than my G5 has (when clicking the button downward, not scrolling) so the MX700 was really like a pair of shoes. The more I used it, the more comfortable it got. It's just now in its prime but I got tired of charging it, so that's why I use the G5. 🙂
