Gaming mice recommendations?

Hello everyone, I'm sure this question has been asked many times before but my situation is a bit unique. See, I have carpal tunnel, but not in the usual way. For example, I can move my mouse all day long and not get hurt. It's simply the act of clicking in with my index finger that causes it. So if I were to find a good mouse with a thumb button on both sides, I could theoretically map left-click to thumb and right-click to pinky. The problem is that with most mice I see, such a setup would be awkward. If anyone is using a mouse which could work in my situation, let me know. Also, I'd rather not spend more than $60. I can go higher if there is only one mouse that works, as protecting my health is important.
Thanks !

Thank you for your reply. I've asked this question in a couple of other forums, and this is the closest I've gotten to what I need. It's not perfect, I probably couldn't reliably use the button on the right as right-click because it just seems too hard to reach from the pinky. But the thumb button is perfect and the shape seems about right, so I will definitely look for some on ebay.

While using a thumb or pinky button may eleviate your carpal tunnel triggered with your pointer finger, it may introduce it to your thumb and pinky finger! >.<

I realize this is beyond your request, but in order to minimize the effects, I recommend using a mouse that's as light and has as unrestricted movement as possible (smooth mouse surface as well as high quality teflon footings). Button engagement is obviously a different story, since buttons that are too easily pressed with have misclicks. So finding the pressure point just above where your resting pressure will be key.

I don't have arthritis or carpal tunnel (yet), but I want to avoid it if at all possible; since I'm on the computer for work and the majority of play. When I last upgraded my mouse and pad, I went with as light and smooth as I could find, with good grip: Steelseries Ikari laser, and their SX pad (both are not cheap). The Ikari only weighs .22 pounds, or 98 grams. There may be equivalent out there, however. Maybe someone else can recommend similar, but I would like to stress the importance of weight, surface friction, and button activation pressures here for you so you can make an informed decision. :)

Just shift your fingers over and click with your middle finger. That's what I did when I broke my index finger

There was a time when I felt i was starting to get carpal tunnel syndrome but since buying a mouse mat with a gel arm rest it has disappeared entirely. It's all about the angle that your hand is at.

IMO buy any mouse with a comfortable side button. My default hand posture is index on left click, middle on mousewheel, ring finger on right click. If your index finger is the only one that gives you problems, just keep using your ring finger for right clicks and remap the side button to left click.

Depending on the mouse, it may have software that lets you assign any key to any button, making the clicking universal (aka even in windows outside of games). If not, you can just remap that button to whatever you want with software such as AutoHotkey.

It's hard to recommend a specific mouse in this case as everyones hand is different and whats comfortable for you probably isnt whats comfortable for me. Your best bet is to go to somewhere that still has display models for mice and try a few out to see which one fits best.
