Gaming / Media Laptop

i've been out of the loop for a while on newer machines and with the new Civ game coming out and my need to hook up the laptop to my tv, i'd like to get a new machine

Anyone point me to a fairly high-end rig that can play newer games and excels at HDD space and media play?

ASUS has a lot of options that will do what you want such as the
K42JV-X1 and the N73JN-X1.

4GB is plenty, a lot of HIGH end desktop gaming machines, only put 4GB's in.

Don't see what that has over the $1000 models. A really slow quad is not what you want.

i think this is the best bang for the buck.... everything except blu-ray which i don't care about on a laptop

It looks like the laptop uses the 720QM, which is the latest. ASUS has about a million different laptop series, so there could very well be a newer revision.
