Just a simple poll I put together to get a sense of the LCD hardware and settings many here at AT are using for gaming. Hopefully this will be informative to some of us, including myself.

I max everything at 1920x1200 no matter the game. The only single exception is Crysis which i run 1680x1050 again, everything maxed.

That does not include AA and AF which would depend on the game. I run 16x AF in every game except crysis, and AA depends on the game's performance.

Nice idea! I'll be checking back to see how it pans out......only nitpick I might mention is a lack of info about multi-display setups, which in the mmo's I play are very common (almost a neccessity).

I'll always run at my monitor's native rez even if I have to turn down settings but I haven't played Crysis/Warhead or Stalker: CS yet so no need to.

I'd rather run a lower rez than turn things to medium and miss out on the particle effects, shadows, and draw distance.

Especially when you have a monitor that scales well. Running 1680x1050 on a native 1920x1200 display is actually quite good.

I'd like to know if people playing at non-native resolutions are stretching the image or playing with black bars.

I prefer the black bars by far.

Some monitors have 1:1 scaling. For me, and the card I have, I don't have to turn anything down most of the time.

Higher resolution = more eye candy anyway not to mention scaling doesn't look good as Native resolution. In the end running native resolution and turning down settings is the best eye candy unless the games looks horrible anything buy max settings.

I voted 2560x1600, though as of this moment I am still on a 24" LCD. My Samsung 305T will be delivered on Friday.

definately black bars.

I was at my friends house 2 days ago when he hands me his XPS laptop. He wanted to show me something on youtube. This thing had a 17" screen and 1920x1200 resolution. When I got it in my hands I almost puked. He was running it at 1024x768. I asked him how long it was set like that. He said as far as he remembers he never has changed the resolution. This guy is totally computer illiterate, I don't even know why he has an XPS. He said he liked the blue lights, lol.

Yay, love for the 19x12 24". I've got 2 of them: P-MVA and S-PVA so not exactly gaming LCDs but they work just fine.

Dell 3007WFP 2560x1600 for a couple years now.

First question kinda depends on the game, but i usually try to run stuff @ 2560x1600 & turn settings down a little if that's needed.

Certain games like UT2k4 i don't like 16:10 mode, so i run 2048x1536 to maintain 4:3 (black bars on the sides).

But for everything i am presently playing, it's all 2560x1600 baby!

I've had mine about 3 weeks now...dear god it's awesome. It takes about 3 days to get used to it though.

I play at 1680x1050 and will generally use less AA or AF to run the game smoothly. I still can max any of my games other "in game" quality options though, such as shadow quality.

NO! The best IQ (eye candy is such a weird term I refuse to use) is ALWAYS turning everything up in the game all the shadows, post processing, draw distance, folliage etc. Everything must be maxed. Otherwise it's gimping the potential. 1680x1050 on my 24" which is native 1920x1200 looks perfect and if I need to, I can turn it down to that rez and still max everything out. Running higher resolution simply makes the pixels smaller and reduces the visible jagged edges somewhat. If you turn shadows down to Low to run 1920x1200 because your card can't handle it instead of running 1680x1050 with everything on very high, you are missing out on a lot of the graphical features.

By looks perfect I mean no black bars at all, and there are no image problems whatsoever.

24in LCD, 1920x1200, most games max out everything but AA, which is usually 2x or 4x. Its barely noticeable at such high res though.
