Which one would/do you have for your gaming?

Please leave a note why you use the one you do or why you would get a certain one.

Hopefully this will get enough responses that it can be used to get a feel for the most popular gaming LCD.

Of course people are going to choose the 2405FPW if money is no object. This doesn't mean that 19' and 20' monitors are crap because they're not. When you bring in the fact that very few people have unlimited money to spend on parts, they're great for their value.

kinda akward poll since most people would choose the 2405fpw, I personally have a Samsung 930B, and for the price it is an excellent monitor.

2405 is too big for me really, I mean I would LOVE to have one for the size of the desktop, but for games, I don't want to have SLI to run games like FEAR at max settings and still get good FPS. So I will stick with my 2005 thanks.

I'd say the 2405 is the clear win with a 6800GT or better and a 2001FP for a 6800 or less.

What's the point of all those monitors except to brag about your e-peen?

highest resolution you can get for the money. in lcd's anyways

Voted 2005FPW because that's what I own and am very happy with, but I think right now the 2405FPW would be my screen of choice.

Most people don't have the videocard to push that badboy at any respectable resolution, even a 7800GTX would have trouble with high settings at native rez, for me SLI would be manadatory for this thing, but if money is no object....:)

2405 here - and absolutely love it - for gaming and everything else... I'm able to run HL2 at 1920x1200 smoothly, I'm happy. :)

Far right has 20 firefox tabs open and this window. From google groups to shacknews, Im bouncing on the web a bit.

Middle has an nlite iso building and everything that goes along with that. Getting a clean install of xp pro ready for a client's new pc.

far left has trillian, google bar, and outlook plus a note or two and an email open on it.

Upper left has a video for background noise.

Upper right has server monitoring stats.

SOME of us can do more then one thing at a time.

Umm, the resolution on the TV is like 1280x768 or something incredibly low. Check out the specs sometime.

I think the 930BF. 4ms response time + 700:1 contrast ratio = :D

EDIT: That Dell 30" TV is 1280 x 768, so it doesn't excatly need a 7800GTX to drive it :p

I have the DEll 2405 , it uses a 6th generation lcd panel from samsung. I am very pleased with it for recreational play from fps to rts the big screen gives great immersion. Response time and color are both quite good compared to other LCDs i have Seen/had. That said I would not use any LCD at this point for competative online gaming. 12ms is a pretty good response time but put it into persepective. if you playing a online game and using a monitor added 12ms to your ping, if you were pro that 12 ms would be a big deal, if you were just having fun then the 24" really outweighs any minor negatives the response time could bring up.

Now, Samsung 7th generation LCDs are in production and should see retail hopefully by christmas. The 7th gens blow everything out of the water in terms of color and response time. So if you can stand to wait, I definitely would. Personally Ill be trading in my dell 2405 the second I find a solid release date for the new samsung LCDs.
