Beyond specs, are the qualities of any of the gaming laptops out there, Alienware, ASUS ROG, MSI Apache, or Lenovo Y-series, any standouts? Or are they largely similar?

Laptop Clevo P570WM

Clevo P570WM Core™ i7 Gaming Notebook, 17.3" Full HD LED LCD, NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 880M / Quadro® K5100M Graphics
SKU: 8100258

so not only its already god knows how much, but you take out the 880m and put 2x 980m.

there is so much stupid here i dont know where to start from.

1. too much gpu.
your monitor is 17 inch; you are paying what, five grand to do what? max it? no need for the two gpu anyway.

2. it runs on battery; and you want to put SLI in it.

3. it doesnt have a mouse;
you either put this on a desk, which makes it a crappy desktop, or you use the touchpad.

4. you have a fKKINg 17 inch monitor.
for someone who is willing to spend this much money, you could be sitting in front of a 27' g-sync or even eyefinity.

5. it's a laptop.

it overheats, its fragile, its more difficult and expensive to upgrade it, and you won't be taking it out of the house anyway because otherwise it will get stolen. and you spent six thousand and five hundred bucks on it.

GOOD JOB!

Quite the post just to say a laptop outgames your desktop.

Btw, there are much more reasonable gaming laptops out there. A particular model from Mythlogic is a 15" model with a 980M and 4K display.
