Gaming laptops?

Besides Alienware and Voodoo, what companies make good gaming laptops...I am mostly looking for the latest ATI mobile card in it the 9600 with 128 video ram...also wouldn't mind being able to customize a few other things here and there....but I'm definitely looking for that gfx card and probably a gig of ram.

in general that phrase is an oxymoron, but its true as of late laptops have been getting better at gaming....

still tho, if gaming is your forte....get a much cheaper pc if u can.

Though also you might be interested in those "desktop laptops" that are pretty bulky and suck poewr like no tomorrow, but are uber nice when it comes to replacing your desktop setup since it is a lot smaller

But see I need this thing to be portable...I am aware that I can get a cheap gaming desktop, however I will need this thing for work too...so I kinda want it to be able to work and play well.

Voodoo currently offers the best gaming laptops. It all depends on what type of games you will be playing. You could go anywhere from a Compaq X1000 to a Dell Inspirion 8600 to a Voodo Envy m855 and in between as well, there are alo of choices. Are you playing any FPS? Newer games?

http://www.xtremenotebooks.com have really nice ones, i bought a prostar notebook from them, they have the latest notebooks, comparable to Alienware notebooks. i've had mine for over a year and I must say VERY nice

What kind of games? For any kind, get yourself a good mouse to take along, and some kind of mousing surface.
For first-person games, check out the Thrustmaster Tacticalboard, which I used as the successor to a Belkin Speedpad n50. The Tacticalboard has considerably more buttons, and I think it is much easier to use.
Something I didn't like about the n50 was that pressing certain key combinations would result in an additional keystroke registering with the computer. Their FAQ says that they're working on it, but a Belkin tech support rep told me that there's no way the problem can be fixed with software. It's been almost 2 years now since I asked that (and sold the n50) and there's still no sign of a fix, so I'm guessing that the rep was saying the truth.
I've had the Tacticalboard now for nearly a year, and I love the thing. If I had decent reaction time, I could do wonders in Counterstrike. It makes movement and control very easy. I don't notice any delay between hitting a key, and it taking effect in the game - just like a regular keyboard.

Clevo makes several of the brad's listed here. I prefer Sager's version, PCtorque is a good outfit.

Haveing a gameing lappy has practicaly changed everything about how I use a computer. It's wonderful.

Thing looks pretty damn nice. Wish it had a higher resolution screen but you can't have everything. Especially since all the other 17" notebooks seem to have this same resolution.

Get this? Or not? Can anyone convince me, either way? Know that price is the most important factor here (around 2000 would do very nicely).
