Gaming Laptop

Hey all,

This is one for the laptop experts out there. I'm looking for a desktop replacement, one of those massive hunks of laptop goodness, and hopefully something with a bit of media centre capability.

I would buy a desktop, but my school/work schedule don't permit this. I move halfway across the continent (sometimes the whole way...) every 4 months, and I practically live out of 2 suitcases as it is, bringing a whole desktop solution with me is simply not too feasible.

I already have a small laptop for bringing around to class and whatnot, but I do play around with graphics development a lot, and I'm really suffering with this piece of crap GeForce 5200 Go. I need more horsepower.

Here's the part that gets unusual: Because of my mobile status, I hook up my console (X360 for anyone wondering) through a USB TV tuner to my laptop. This is hardly ideal, and 480i really doesn't do the machine justice. I'm looking for a laptop that is able to take VGA in. I've heard the Alienwares do this, but I've been unable to find any documentation to this effect on their site.

I've looked at the Toshiba Qosmio G30 and that seems like a pretty good laptop, save for its inability to take a VGA signal. Integrated tuner and remote would do wonders for the media centre capabilities (the laptop also has to double as my TV), but I'm really quite iffy about the lack of VGA (which I gather is really a rare feature).

So, anyone have any suggestions for such laptops?

The Notebook forum on this site.

I've never heard of laptops that accept VGA input. Nearly all notebooks have a VGA output as well as an S-Video output.

Why not just buy a cheap LCD as well? Doesn't cause much of a problem with transportation other than protecting the screen, and gives you a bigger screen for watching TV and movies than the laptop (depending on the laptop of course).

why do you need an xbox 360 if you going to buy a gaming laptop eliminate the xbox 360 as togather if it's a controller you want you get a usb xbox 360 controller.
