Dell should be releasing their Go 7800GTX soon, and a bunch of other notebook manufacturers are using the Go to so wait for it, Id say go with Dell just because of the discounts (coupons 40% off laptops ect) you can get.

In terms of performance, would the Dell XPS laptop be able to stand up to Alienwares HUGE 13 pound Area-51m 7700?

If you dont need the horsepower of a 7800gtx...u might think of a Dell 9300 with a go 6800..I have one and havent found anything it wont handle.

Well i do need the 7800 GTX for I want to be able to play Quake 4 and other new games on it. Also to John, what do u mean by Alienware is rebadging the Clevo unit. Buy it from another reputable vendor and save a few bills.

What he is saying is that like most resellers, Dell, Gateway, Alienware, Voodoo, and the like buy from ODMs. Which are the companys that really make the lappys. Clevo is the base of the the Alienware you were looking at.
