Intel i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-4330m (2.80GHz) 3MB
OR
i7 Quad Core Processor i7 -4700MQ (2.40 GHz) 6MB
(I will need to pay £60 more if I buy the i7)

8GB RAM

GTX 770M - 3GB DDR5
OR
AMD Radeon HD 8970M - 4GB DDR5 (I will need to pay £30 more if I buy the Radeon)

500GB Memory

Which is better for value for money and better for gaming? I want to at least max out most of the latest games such as, Diablo3, CoD, Battlefield, Tomb Raider, Left4Dead etc etc etc.

Can I do better? Both cost around £1200ish, can I do better with less money? >_<

Really appreciated if you can help me out here :)

Thanks! :awe:

I don't think either of those laptops can max out BF3, unless they're 720p. ..

The i7 with the 770M is probably the better choice, as I hear about many bad things from AMD mGPUs. BUT, you mustn't let the CPU and GPU specs drive you to the order. Make sure that those laptops have a good cooling system, decent-speed RAM (with low CL), the HDD quality (If you care about loading), etc.

I can max bf3 on my 660ti (PC) so how can I not max on those? I'm confused, I thought I can max bf3 with those specs? :S:eek:

The mobile i5 listed above is dual-core with hyper-threading, and the i7 is quad-core with hyper-threading, so 4 threads vs 8 threads. If you can afford it then definitely get the i7.

Between the GPUs, the 8970M is much faster, but may have some performance issues the Nvidia GPU won't, so it's a draw.

As for the performance vs desktop, the mobile GPUs never perform as well as their desktop equivalent. For example, the combo of the i7 4700MQ and 770M will score between 3500 and 4000 under 3DMark's Fire Strike benchmark (set "Number of GPUs" to 1), while the slowest desktop i7-4XXX CPU plus GTX 770 will score over 6500. That's just a tradeoff with mobile parts in order to keep the temps and power consumption down, while also packing everything into a smaller package.

It will perform quite well in BF3 even if you can't max it out.
