I posted this thread in general hardware and didn't get many responses, so I'll go ahead and post it again here.

I'm moving soon to attend a different college and I'm unsure of what I was going to do for my computer setup.

I was planning on purchasing this: Text

But as I've been thinking about it, I think I should probably get a desktop for gaming and a used/cheap laptop for the library and such.

For a laptop I'd purchase something around $600... 12" - 15"

I got a "gaming" laptop ~5 years ago. Compaq 2800T, reviewed on AT. Even at the time it was slow compared to my midrange desktop and within a year I had gotten myself a gaming rig again. Desktops are way more pleasant to do work on anyway, unless you're really just lounging on the couch. Work laptop + gaming desktop FTW. It's not like you can really game on the road anyway, with a tiny mouse and no desk.

Id go with the desktop/laptop combo, it's alot harder and more exspensive to upgrade laptops then desktops.
