Gaming keyboard for Win7 AND Ubuntu?

Look for some ideas on a back lit keyboards with media controls and some programmable buttons that work properly with both Windows and Linux. Not looking to spend a lot, in fact I was about to pull the trigger on a MS Sidewinder X4 for $42 and then did some searches to see if Linux was supported by MS (ha!). Any ideas?

If anyone with an X4 could comment on what works and doesn't in Linux I'd appreciate it? Like at a minimum do the back light and media/volume functions work?
