Basic laptop specs: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A - Athlon64 3000+, 512 DDR, Mobile Radeon 9700 128Mb, Win XP SP2. OS, DX and all drivers up to date.
Problem: Laptop works fine with all apps except games. Specifically, Doom 3 freezes after around 15 mins game play, although it is just the game that crashes, rather than the entire os. With Far Cry, when I try to adjust contrast or brightness in the game menu, the entire machine immediately crashes. I have not even tried to play a game yet.
About to install Prime95 to check torture test results, and Futuremark to check if it makes it to the end.
Any ideas from anyone? Since this is a new laptop I'm thinking the CPU or GPU is probably sub standard and leaning towards demandind a replacement or my money back.
