Any reccomendations on a good set of noise cancelling earbuds.

I want to use these on my home stereo late at night when i play Xbox 360 and computer as well as when im walking around and at the gym with my IPOD

I was looking at

-SHURE E2C
-SHURE E2G <---- Not sure of difference with the above one.

I currently own Sennheiser HD 497's. How much of a quality increase will these earbuds have or should i just save my $

i have shure e3c's and love them... and from what i heard the e2c's have really decent sound quality too. they are def good to have for the gym and other such places.

ps. while the shures may not let you hear any outside noise, i don't think they are technically considered "noise cancelling". a noise cancelling headphone normally has some type of active device that cuts out sound from outside the phones, the shures do this naturally by the way you place them in your ear

e2c has weak bass compared to e3c

I have the altec lansing IM716 which used to be 65$ on Amazon. They are amazing! Unfortunately, they are up to 120+$ and rising...

I would say the IM716 exceeds the quality of my friends e3c, but is pretty comparable with the e4c, etymotic er4p (in fact it might use the same driver that is in er4p).

Edit, btw op, they are not Noise-cancelling. They are noise-isolating. Noise-cancellation involves active electronics whereas noise-isolation blocks out the noise physically. I prefer noise-isolation much better, and it worked much better on the airplane than the small sennheiser active noise-cancelling earphones (I dont remember the model).

Edit2. AFAIK, overall soundquality of IEM are typically not as good as similar priced cans. Compared to my Grado SR-125, the Altec Lansing IM716 falls behind in sound quality. The plus of the IEM is that you can hear more of your music -- so its a trade off. In a noisy environment, i would take the IEM over the Grado anyday because I can actually hear my music without blasting it.

All I can say is Audio Technica, CK-7. About $75 and you will not be disappointed. You'll have to hunt around to find them. I could only find one online store that sold them and they had to come all the way from Hong Kong...

Found them for $75 at audiocubes.com and warehouse123.com

So you say these are pretty good? How long did it take to recieve them

I read some reviews on the CK-7s and they seen very highly reccommened. What would be the best for an all around sound with alright bass and use in gaming, ipod, gym, and ht system

Rules of hi-fi headphones
1) there are no such things as good earbuds
2)in terms of SQ value, IEMS lose

save up for some better full-sized headphones

Negatory on SHURE E2C. They are good but there is a better option out there. Westonr UM2 are Shure E500 killers and they cost almost half the price. The UM2 is a dual driver (speaker) system. While (I believe) Shure uses a single driver. Read a review, any review and they will recomend them over Shure. Shure is the BOSE of earbuds.*

footnote
*I am being metaphorical. Shure makes great products, just that they are overpriced and the competition makes a better product for less.

Personaly I would rather have a pair of large headphones over a pair of earbuds. The only advantage earbuds have are that they fit in your pocket and wont fall off your head when jogging.

I have e3gs and love em

Only difference between the C's and G's is that the Gs are black and have a slightly-longer cord... (meant to be used w/ PSP)

I was in the exact same boat as you.
I had the Sennheiser HD497. I went out and bought a pair of Shure E2C. They're pretty comparable with the HD497 in sound quality, sans the bulkyness and size.
I accidently broke them one day, by leaving them hanging out of the door of my car while I drove around. Only bare wires remained after 10 miles of driving.
I decided to upgrade since my job was going well. I got the Etymotic ER4P after the guys at head-fi recommended them to me.
HOLY SHIET, THEY WERE IN A WHOLE NOTHER LEAGUE!111!
I actually got to compare them side to side. Shure has amazing customer service, and replaced my E2c even considering I broke them.
So in comparison, the Shure sounded tunnel like, and the highs were bright fatiguing. It just sounded muddy. The Etymotic was crystal clear. Amazing transience that adds a third dimension to music. Instrument seperation is astounding, you can literally close your eyes and imagine the stage in front of you. Live music is mindblowing, you can hear where each holler in the audience is coming from.

The etymotics are quite pricey though, at around $160. However, lucky for you, the Altec Lansing iM716 are based of a very similar design, since it's also designed by etymotic. The iM716 is no doubt, the best you can get for under $100.
The shure's won't even be in the same league, hands down.

I have the e2c's...It does what I need--noise cancellation with above average sound quality. BTW, where can you purchase ear wax remover separately? I bought mine used and it didn't come with the tool or the protective cover (It is my wax and not the previous owner's).
