Gaming in Vista with 2GB RAM

I'm currently using a 3GHz E2160 with 2GB RAM, and I don't seem to be coming close to running out of RAM in XP Pro, 32 bit. I'm considering changing to Vista x64 (so I can add another 4GB RAM when it gets cheap enough), and was wondering if I'd still be able to game with just 2GB. Should I go for it, or will it be bad enough that I should wait till I get the RAM?

Its not cheap enough for you now?

Well... I was thinking about waiting for it to drop to around $30, since I get the impression 2GB is enough for now. Is that unrealistic?

It'll work "ok" for almost anything with 2GB but you will often see a noteworthy performance improvement with 4GB mostly for things like loading new levels but sometimes it can actually reduce lag / stutter in a level.

Bah, I decided to just pull the trigger on a 2x2GB kit that Frys had on sale. Thanks for the input from everyone, though.

On a related note, will I run into any problems with mixing DIMMs? I'm running 2x1GB g.skill (CL5, 1.8V) and the stuff I ordered is Crucial (CL6, 1.8V). I'll set the g.skill to match the new stuff's latencies beforehand to be safe, but I've still heard about people having problems with mixed RAM (especially when it comes to OCing). How likely is it that I'll have to tone down my current 333x9 OC?
