Hey going to buy a gaming headset with mic. Never had one before so not sure what to get/look for. Not going to be doing anything like PUBG. Starting of with Friday the 13th. Would like to be able to change mic and sound volume quickly. Any suggestions for a gaming newbie(sort of)? My sound card is a Soundblaster X Ae-5

I've been using wired Logitech headsets for the last number of ears. Just ordered these Plantronics from Newegg because they were so cheap ($13 shipped):

DO NOT buy these if you wear glasses as they are VERY uncomfortable.

From my experience try to buy over-the-ear (as in totally covering the ear) wireless headphones. I like the sound of my wired Logitechs but I run over the cord all too often. Go wireless if you can find a good buy and if possible, try before you buy.

Your best bet it to get audio headphones and a separate mic.

But if you're determined to get gaming head phones, Plantronics, Logitech, Hyperx Cloud are all well-considered depending on your budget. Or go higher end with Sennheiser's gaming headset.

I've been using a Razer Tiamat 7.1 for over 6 years and it's been fantastic. It has a separate control box where you can change all your volumes at any time without going into any sound profiles on your PC and the ear cuffs are very comfortable. I've used studio headphones in the past that are designed for audio, and while the sound was top notch, the ear cuffs started to cause discomfort after a few hours. So far, this headset has been tested on a 10.5 hour session with no issues with discomfort.
