Gaming Headset recommendation

Looking for some recommendations for gaming headsets with mic's.
Got a whole slew of questions...

Started with these which came free with the UT2004 DVD edition.
Altec Lansing AHS302 $24.99
- They're behind the head loops, that will push your ears out worse than double rimmed coke bottle glasses. A couple hours and the tops of your ears will hurt. Still not bad for FREE.

Went out and bought this USB headset
Logitech Premium USB Headset 300 $49.99
- Nice soft ear pads, but they don't encompass the ear. After 4+ hours your entire ear will ache a bit. May need to just break in the ear pads more.

Sennheiser has an entire line of gaming headsets.
PC135 $ 95
PC-145 $ 99
PC-155 $140
Anyone have experience with these or the new Zalman 5.1 surround sound headset?

Also any difference in USB versus analog jack connections?
I've seen some headsets advertised as digital connect.
On the USB Logitech set I'm using there is a faint hiss.

I went USB for an easy front panel connection. My SBLive Value didn't have a front panel header connector on the card. Am I blaming my headphones for a cheap soundcard? Would an Audigy ZX make a really big difference?

In Far Cry the sound of footsteps really helps you see them before they see you in close combat. More importantly might be a true directional sound headset.

PS. Yes, if you watch me play, I actually look around the room trying to triangulate the sound of footsteps. It's quite funny to watch...

Sennheiser PC-150's hands down. I wouldn't waste the extra money on the 155's unless you really must have USB.

I got my 150's on ecost.com for < $40 including shipping. They are very comfy, sound great, and the mic is pretty high quality. For the money they can't be beat.

I was deabting between the PC-150 and Pc-140's (I like the behind the head phones more than over the top), is there any difference between the 150s and 140s? They both look like they have the same driver enclosure.

i use hd497 sennheisers.. just wrap my cheap mic headset around my neck for the mic, or use a standing mic.
