Gaming headset - around $50

Looking for a gaming headset/mic combo (all in one, don't want a seperate mic) for PC use.

The one stipulation is that it HAS to be around the ear. I can't stand headphones that rest right on the ear. Last 3 pair I had rested on the ear and after 1 hour my ears are sore.

I've searched the forum and have heard good things about these units:

Steelsound 4H

Altec Lansing 602i

Do both of these headsets go around the ear or on top? Any other options?

Does "Over the Ear" mean around the ear or on top of the ear?

Search on Newegg.com for:
HD485
Zalman clip-on mic

I saw you recommend that in another thread and didn't like the idea.

Searched Newegg and I like the HD485s. Price is a little high for me (since it doesn't include a mic) but if they are quality it might be worth it.

Only thing I don't like is the mic so far from my mouth. Just can't see how it can pick up voice as well as a mic inches from my mouth

Why do they have desktop mics then?
I personally use an old desktop mic and most people can hear me in CSS and Vent, outbound ~6 for most people, and it is a sh**ty mic also.

I thought people just leaned into them and talked 😕

LOL no.

The HD485s will have a WAY bigger soundstage than most "gaming" headsets. (meaning better sound positioning and will sound more like a music hall than speakers smashed against your head)

The HD485s will more than likely have way more bass as well.
