Hello All,

I am assuming this is technically hardware.

Just moved into a new house ( out of the parents house ) and ready to get my video game on like I've dream of for 20 years.

Turns out, I am kind of poor (houses are expensive). Currently I am looking for a computer desk for approximately 150 bucks, lower is better.

I need room for an oversized keyboard and a gaming mouse. Typical pull out keyboard shelf is a bit too small.

Also have a wired 5.1 logitech system, center speaker becoming a difficulty (under the desk at this moment).

Got a Playstation 3, a full tower computer case, 24 inch lcd monitor. Also got a printer, but I am not overly concerned with that setup.

Not really looking for storage, but rather functionality.

Anything you guys could provide would be a big help

if you want to keep costs down, what I did was get like a kitchen counter from like lowe's or something and buy some table legs. Mine is like 6 ft wide with 6 legs under it and two metal u shaped bars running the length of the table, works very well!

The Ikea Galant (sp?) series is good. You can somewhat customize to fit your needs and budget. I've had one for about 2 years and it's been great.

A yard sale or second hand furniture store might be nice. People are always throwing out junky desks or table for little or no money. Most families have lots of junky furniture in the garage or basement or whatever that they are not using. I use a small rectangular kitchen table that my next door neighbor gave me.

You could use something like a piece of plywood (Thick like 3/4") or an old door on 2 half height file cabinets. The problem is that might not be stable enough to place your computer on.

Look for a used office furniture store. Often desks are less than 1/2 price or more.

I guess you could make a corner desk or something like that out of some thick plywood or from a kit. Some places like Lowes and wall-mart and where-ever have kits for things like tables and bookshelves. You always need a bookshelf or two. I like the kind with no screws. Often they go together with this hardware where you turn it 45 degrees and it just locks. Beware of kits with 100 screws.

Lowes sometimes has things like counter tops and unfinished cabinets that are returned or scratched that you can get for less. Counter tops are nice because they are laminated.

Best Buy often has some folding tables for sale. I built a table once from a 4x8 sheet of plywood and some 2x4's for bracing. The hardest part is bracing the legs. However, I used the table for a ping pong table.
