Alright guys, I have to decide what I want for Christmas from my fiancee. I thought, hmmm, maybe one of those video game chairs? I often sit close to the tv, but on the floor. I don't sit on my couch cause I have awful eye sight and can't see good from far away. I've never used a gaming chair, but the thought is interesting. Are they worth it? Any good ones you guys can suggest?

You mean something like this? It looks alright, but I don't wanna rock around when I'm gaming, I think it stresses your back. I think something like this combo would feel much more comfortable. It's stable, it has arm rest, and you got an ottoman to put your feet on. The padding on that one looks a little cheap though.

I agree the 2nd one looks more comfortable, but size is a factor here. I need something thats fairly small, as I dont have a lot of room in my living room and will be putting it in a walk in closet when not in use.

My eyesight isn't THAT bad. I don't even own glasses. I function just fine on a daily basis, its just when I sit further away from the tv and I'm playing video games I can't see it as well as I'd like to. I can't read the small details. Stop focusing on that! The focus is on a gaming chair!

I used to have one of those rockers, for the same reason. It served its purpose, but that thing was hard as a rock and really uncomfortable for my back. Those chairs arent going to make your game any better, and it was a bitch to cart it around as it didnt fit under any table or neatly anywhere else. It was also bigger and heavier than it looks, and had to be literally dragged around.

That ikea chair is also cräp. That thing buckled under 200 lbs of weight and never hung straight, the cushion would stick out of the side and have to be constantly pulled back, it was so reclined (and non-adjustable) that it would hardly make a decent gaming chair.

Just buy an adjustable height and back office chair - they roll and fit under tables for easy access and storage, adjust for comfort, and you can get a quite decent one for $100. For a chair you don't plan on leaving in one spot, wheels are never overrated.

Remember, a chair is a chair. These dont plug into your system or give you any extra lives, and they dont look nearly as cool in your living room as you'd think.

If you're gonna play console games on an office chair, you might as well go all out and get a super duper comfy recliner. Office chair is so tacky and outta place outside of the home office.

I got one of those super fancy gaming chairs from my girlfriend last year. I forget if it was for my birthday or Christmas. Either way, we ended up returning it.

It was from the same company that made the gaming chair in the 40 Year Old Virgin - the leather one with the joysticks on the arms. This one was a bit different - and had a motor and stuff built in the seat, and speakers at the head.

Cabling for the thing sucked - it needed to be plugged into an outlet and the audio for the console. The speakers were very low fidelity, the vibrating chair was interesting for racing games and some shooters, but was ultimately not something I wanted to have all the time. It wasn't incredibly comfortable, either. Plus, it was pretty expensive.

It wasn't worth it. Definitely avoid any chair made "for gamers" and if you really want a chair, just get one made "for fatasses who like sitting". Look for comfort over anything.

Recliners cant be easily hid away, and a good one isnt cheap.

Spend the money on a good, comfy Lazyboy. Sounds like you need your eyes checked though. If you can't see the TV from a couch at normal distance, I really hope your not driving. lol

I too looked at gaming chairs, but after looking for a while I decided it wasn't worth it.

Recliner > gaming chair...always.

I was looking into getting a gaming rocker chair, I bought a cheap one on black friday of last year and ended up only sitting in it like 3 times. It was uncomfortable. This year I bought this:

Its much better but I would suggest something a bit bigger. It gets the job done and is for the most part comfortable. I would get the biggest bean bag I could get. Skip the gaming chairs.
