Hello, i need some feedback in creating my new PC! :)

This is what i produced in notepad while digging through multiple boards, please help me answering my questions
and point out anything whats wrong. Retailer i used is just for examples, i will probably buy from different
sites, so feel free to link anywhere you want.

Budget & usage:
Doesnt matter, but trying to stay out of new expensive unnecessary products which is not easy :D, gonna cut

something if it will be too much.
MOSTLY gaming, movies, movie/sound editing, web

CPU:
E8400-E8500
http://www.komplett.ie/k/kl.as...95.K118363.A00040.3-35.
Thinking of future im more into quad, but if quad then it should be i7 which makes mobo and ram expensive.

Probably gonna choose E8400-E8500 and put in the same socket a much better core2quad when they gonna be cheaper.

GPU:
single nvidia/ati
GeForce GTX 2xx (260, 275!)
Radeon HD4870 1GB

I think its gonna be the new GTX 275 and sli in 1 year?
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=447164

MoBo:
Intel P45 GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=391836

RAM:
2x2GB (maybe 6-8GB) DDR2
corsair/gskill/mushkin
800 or 1066?

DISPLAY:
22" 1680x1050
Dell UltraSharp 2209WA vs LG Flatron L227WT

Depends on final budget, looks like LG.

CASE:
Cooler Master 690
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=347261

PSU:
Corsair 620-650W modular would be nice
http://www.komplett.ie/k/kcp.aspx?sku=327672&sku=340676

CPU cooling:
I should be fine if i choose any of these low noise ones?
http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm :p
also heard something about not taking push-pins...

http://www.komplett.ie/k/kcp.a...&sku=441227&sku=393518

HDD:
Western Digital Caviar Black 500MB
http://www.komplett.ie/k/kcp.a...&sku=391645&sku=391646
+external later

DVD:
LG DVD±RW GH22NP20 22x
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=358828

SOUND:
Creative SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB (external)
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=365973
looks like 7.1 creative front/externals are too expensive :(

other:
Logitech ultra flat keyboard
http://www.komplett.ie/k/kcp.aspx?sku=389166&sku=341896

Overclocking:
Probably in future, when it starts to be not enough.

OS:
Vista 64

All suggestions are welcome!

ZipZoomFly:

MSI X58 PRO $170AR
CORE I7 920 $267 AR
6GB CORSAIR DDR3 1333 $67AR

Core i7 isn't expensive, people just don't want to let go of Core 2 because they still want to think they have the best.

For ATI, the ATI 4890 is under $220 in Hot Deals. It runs faster than 4870 but 20c cooler and using 20 watts less power. See the 4890 vs. 275 review in the main AnandTech site.

i7 vs core 2:
MSI P43 chipset motherboard $90 - (I've used one since June '08) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/...13130185&Tpk=msi%20p43
intel E8500 3.16 GHz - $190 - stock cooling is fine
4 GB Crucial DDR2 $47 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820148111
= $327 no rebates needed vs. $504 for the core i7 quad 2.66 above

Saving you $177, but it won't run crossfire or RAID.

Duals don't cut it anymore. You can get a quad for that price anyways, why wouldn't you?

Dual 3.166 is faster than quad 8300 2.5 GHz for almost every game except possibly GTA IV and Supreme Commander.

If you're buying for performance now (and paying $177 less now) then get the core 2. If paying $177 extra is worth lower gaming performance now but maybe better performance in 2 years then go with the i7.

Without knowing all of the parts stores the OP has access to, the US prices make sense for comparisons between different builds.

*updated*

Thank you for replies.

Im gonna put in E8500 and get a quad in 1-2 years.
I dont want to clock a 2,4ghz quad right when i buy it, and 3ghz s are expensive.

The only real problem left is GPU, so ill have to go through benchmarks again.
And if its nvidia then ill be switching GA-EP45-UD3P to UD3R.
Also, still thinking about CPU cooler.

A quad core is the better option since you're also going to be editing audio and video.
These days a 3GHz quad core wouldn't be considered an "expensive unneccesary product"
If you're tight on cash, you should really nail down a budget and save a lot of pointless posting here.

I definately don't agree with this statement. In fact quads are overkill for 80% of all computer users.

Well considering you have a dual, I see why you're saying that. It's because you're biased. As I said before, a quad costs the same so why would you still buy a dual?

I'm not biased just because I KNOW what I am talking about just stating a fact.
