Hi everyone. I'm building a gaming/general use build for my office. As it wont get used a ton I'd like to keep the cost down.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. Gaming

2. What YOUR budget is. $600-800

3. What country USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. No preference

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are. I have the case, speakers, mouse, monitor

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads. Yes, none seemed completely relevant to my build.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds. Default speeds

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with. 1920x1200 max

9. WHEN do you plan to build it? Will order parts within the next 24 hours

Here's my planned parts list:

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103846

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131402

Optical Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204

OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116754

Any suggestions or needed changes? Thanks in advance,

AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE - $145
I realize you might want to unlock the 555BE, but there are people who weren't as fortunate as I was. Just make sure you can accept a dual core in the event it does not successfully unlock, if you stick with the 555BE.

ASUS M4A77TD - $80 ($65 AR)
Cheaper.

ZOTAC GTX 460 768MB - $160 ($140 AR)
Bit more expensive, but should be much better than the 5770.

Samsung F3 1TB - $70
Larger capacity for same price.

G.SKILL NS 2x2GB DDR3 1333 - $48
Cheaper and no noticeable loss in performance.

CORSAIR Builder Series CMPSU-500CX - $60 ($50 AR)
The builder series is kinda unimpressive compared to Corsair's other PSUs, but should be ok. I wasn't able to find a better PSU for the price.

SAMSUNG DVD Burner w/LightScribe Support - $17
Just cheaper.

Win 7 HP x64 OS - $100

Total = $680 ($635 AR)

blackmage's build looks good I would just get the 1GB version of the 460GTX instead.

Ya blackmage's looks pretty good, but I would try to bump up the GPU for 1920x1200. Maybe a 6870? You have plenty of room for it in the budget.

I agree with Donut. Blackmage's build is a big improvement over what you have. You will have to decide which GPU you want to put in. The GTX 460 768MB, 6850, GTX 460 1GB, and 6870 are all good choices, it just depends on if you want to be closer to $600 or $800.
