1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Games - World of Tanks, Bioshock, Borderlands...
HD Video

2. What YOURbudget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

$1500

3. What countryYOU will be buying YOUR parts from & #4

US only

5. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

Leaning towards Nvidia - quieter / reliable
I also would like the PC to be very quiet!

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOURcurrent parts, and if so, what those parts are.

I have Antec black steel case - big and quiet. May need an update if there are good option otherwise I can stick with it.

I have an old GTS 450 card and I intend to use it as a PhysX card, hence I need a good PSU. Critique the idea / have suggestions?

Nothing else that I would like to reuse.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Your advice here...

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?

1920 x 1080
HP Pavilion 23xi

If you think there are better options - please let me know

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

NOW! (Can't wait!!!)

Welcome to the forums, tdrive!

A few suggestions for you:

(1) save $100 by skipping the Sabertooth and going for something like the Asus Z87-A or ASRock Extreme4. The Sabertooth has its advantages, including durability and a 5-year warranty, but it doesn't actually offer a lot to enthusiasts, and it's a bit too expensive for your budget.

(2) That 850W PSU is a good deal right now, but it's about 300W more than you need. The 750W model would make more sense, although there are plenty of 500-650W models that would also be good picks.

(3) The Gigabyte 770 will probably be a bit quieter than the ACX, but both are good picks. You really don't need an extra PhysX card for what you want to play. The GTX 770 is more than powerful enough on its own.

(4) For memory, get the cheapest 8GB DDR3-1600 kit that you can, avoiding anything listed as using more than 1.5V.

(5) Hard drive - a small SSD (for instance Samsung 840 Evo 120GB) combined with a 1-2TB hard drive is probably your best bet.

(6) Overclocking - you won't need it to start, so build the system and then come back for help on that later.

Your build will come in under $1,500, but that's mostly because you really don't need to spend $1,500 for the gaming you want to do and the resolution you're using.

Thank you! OK, so it seems I can get a bigger monitor. How about this:

What is your criteria for monitor selection? You've selected a TN monitor that is physically bigger, but has the same resolution, and the same refresh rate.

In your budget, you could afford a 23''/24'' IPS panel at 1920x1080/1200, or a 27'' TN120/144Hz monitor. Would either of those be appealing?

You're all over the place with your monitor choices. I think the real question is what's important to you? Desktop real-estate (i.e. resolution), accurate colors, or fast response times during gaming?

The i5 4670K is definitely the better price/performance pick for gaming. Since you're interested in keeping things quiet, pick up an aftermarket cooler like the Arctic Cooling i30 for $40.

Motherboard
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming LGA 1150 Intel Z87 (160)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-130-693

That's a fine board, but you really don't need anything that expensive. Check out the i5 4670K + ASUS Z87-A combo for $350.

GPU
GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-2GD GeForce GTX 770 (380)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125463

That's about the best price for a GTX 770 that I saw. Keep in mind however that any GTX 770 is going to get fairly loud during gaming. It should be quiet while idling though.

Memory
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (130 with 10% off)

This Team 16GB kit is a better deal at $113 AP.

PSU
CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750W (70 AR)

More power than you need, but a good deal at $70.

Good.

Check out the Fractal Design R4 for $110.

Thank you for the feedback!!!

I actually went for the Intel Core i7-4770K + MSI Z87-G45 combo on newegg (30 off) after reading the reviews, features and options and the potential for these two products. Everything else - as you suggested (do I need thermal paste or can I use stock one?). Now the waiting begins...

The only thing I did not get was a monitor. Do you have a suggestion for a good gaming monitor (I do not need 3d)? Thank you!

If you are not doing any fast paced arena games then your options open up. You should be able to keep your fps above 120 with that rig at that resolution. Even though you are not interested in a 3D monitor the benefits from 120Hz or above is a plus. Most gamers use 3D monitors in 2d to take advantages of the high refresh rates. But if you have other interests out of a monitor than low input lag, and minimal motion blur, then by all means go that route.

Please let me clarify - I do not intend to use 3d but would like a higher refresh rate and fast response time. Any suggestions?

Any 120Hz or above monitor with Lightboost.

So, something like

ASUS VG248QE Black 24" 144Hz 1ms
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236313

or

BenQ XL Series XL2420TE Black-Red 24" 1ms
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824014350

or even bigger
BenQ Gaming XL2720T Black 27" 1ms
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824014344

I have not used monitors bigger than 24" or with high refresh rate. A detailed suggestion would be highly appreciated.

Those are along the lines that I was thinking. I own the Asus model linked above. Even the 27" model here.

The higher the refresh rate the lower the input lag. With Lightboost & 120Hz refresh rate it cuts down the input lag even further. 144Hz ~ 3ms.. 120Hz with lightboost ~ 1.4ms (depending on the lightboost mode which is changable via the monitor's OSD buttons. e.g. 10% - 100%, 10% being the lowest/fastest) Read about it here.
