I only play Tribes2 on my computer. Is there a boost from using WinXP? A couple of threads on here have made it sound that way, but I just want to double-check. Is there real-world boost associated with it, or is it just a few hundred points on 3DMark2001? If I can get another 10FPS I'll switch in a heartbeat!
hezaplaya (in before the lock) said that "Windows Xp does optimize video performance.... however real difference will only be noticed on a high end vid card. so anything more than a year or so old wont get too much of a boost. "
(I just had my first run-in with a mod locking this thread in General Hardware because it was off-topic.. I'm glad they're on top of things, but ...geesh.... couldn't they have moved this to Operating Systems?)
